Some people spend a lifetime searching for purpose. Mine was forged through service, tested by adversity and rebuilt through resilience.

I’m Ken Chancellor, founder of KC VICE, an Australian Army veteran, author, investigative journalist, entrepreneur and AI developer. My career has never followed a conventional path. Instead, it’s been shaped by a commitment to serve, to learn, to lead and, above all, to seek the truth.

My journey began in the Australian Army, where I learned that discipline, accountability and integrity aren’t just words, they’re a way of life. Those values followed me into every chapter that came after.

Over the next four decades I built experience across industries most people only glimpse from the outside. I worked in fire protection, specialising in portable fire equipment and suppression systems. I served in emergency management as an Operations Officer with the State Emergency Service. I was trusted with security responsibilities during events of international significance, including the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and the Silver Jubilee visit of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

I refused to stop learning. I studied criminology and criminal justice, security and counter-terrorism, and mortgage and finance, and earned my full real estate licence. I spent more than twenty years building a career in real estate and property management, helping families, investors and businesses navigate some of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. Along the way I built a reputation for solving problems others walked away from.

Entrepreneurship became the next challenge. I founded and operated a successful residential and commercial cleaning company employing more than twenty staff, learning first-hand that leadership is earned every day through trust, accountability and the willingness to stand beside your team.

Then life changed.

Years after my military service, I was diagnosed with service-related physical and psychological injuries. Like many veterans, I found myself facing a future I’d never imagined. My working life was no longer measured by what I wanted to do, but by what my injuries would allow me to do.

I had two choices. Accept that my best years were behind me, or find a new mission. I chose the second.

Writing became more than words on a page. It became therapy. Purpose. A way to keep contributing when many believed my working life was over. Investigative journalism gave me a reason to keep asking questions. Artificial intelligence gave me the tools to overcome physical limitations and keep creating.

That decision gave birth to KC VICE.

KC VICE isn’t simply a media organisation. It’s the culmination of everything I’ve learned throughout my life. Military discipline. Emergency management. Security. Business. Finance. Investigation. Writing. Technology.

Its philosophy is simple. Don’t Tell Me. Show Me.

Every investigation begins with evidence. Every conclusion has to stand on its own. Opinion has its place, but documentation speaks louder.

Today I combine traditional investigative journalism with advanced artificial intelligence to build systems that accelerate research, strengthen verification and help produce journalism that values facts over headlines. Technology should never replace human judgement. It should make it stronger.

I’m also an author, with books spanning memoir, property, investigation and personal resilience. Every story I write shares one purpose, to leave something of value behind for those who come after me.

Beyond my professional life, I remain proud of my Scottish heritage, with family history including documented connections to the Munro and Moffat clans, the Chancellor name, the Plantagenet lineage and Shieldhill Castle. It’s a history that reminds me every generation inherits a legacy and has the responsibility to leave one.

Looking back, the common thread has never been real estate, emergency services, journalism or business. It’s been curiosity. I’ve spent my life gathering information, assessing risk, solving problems and refusing to accept easy answers. That mission continues today.

The next chapter isn’t about building a media company. It’s about building a legacy. A legacy that proves adversity doesn’t have to end a life of purpose. A legacy that shows experience is earned, not claimed. A legacy that encourages others, especially veterans and those living with invisible injuries, to understand that while life may change, purpose never has to disappear.

I don’t claim to have all the answers. I simply refuse to stop asking the questions that matter.
